Telkomsat Supports PT Dok dan Perkapalan Floating Dock Systems

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia (Telkomsat) with PT Industri Kapal Indonesia (Persero) and Public Company Jasa Tirta I conducted an MoU or the signing of a cooperation to revitalize and digitize floating dock with PT Dok and Perkapalan Surabaya (Persero).

The periodization or the period of cooperation between the parties is for 3 years or 36 months where the cooperation starts from April 1, 2019. From this collaboration it is expected to create synergies in the development and digitalization of the national maritime industry.

The memorandum of understanding or signing of the cooperation itself was directly attended by the President Director of PT. Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya, Bambang Soendjaswono, Telkomsat Chief Operating Officer & Chief Marketing Officer, Bogi Witjaksono and witnessed by the Ministry of BUMN's Deputy for Energy, Logistics, Regions and Tourism, Edwin Hidayat Abdullah and representatives from each of the related companies.

"From this collaboration, it is expected to improve the operational performance of each company and realize independence in the national shipping industry," said Chief operating officer & chief marketing officer Telkomsat Bogi Witjaksono in his statement.

From this business synergy, Bogi is expected to be able to support the Maritime Axis Nawacita program through capacity building, automation and revitalization of shipyards at PT Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya.

As is known before, PT Dok and Perkapalan Surabaya is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) which is engaged in shipbuilding located in Surabaya, East Java and adjacent to the Port of Tanjung Perak which is also a strategic gateway for trade in eastern Indonesia.

Telkomsat as a provider of satellite-based solutions and networks that are widely used in the maritime industry always strives to develop its line of maritime communication business.

One manifestation of this commitment to the development of the domestic and international maritime world is to develop a shipping ecosystem that includes integrated Vessel Communication Service or integrated ship communication services in the form of a combination of technology, services and management for the needs of the maritime industry.
