Telkomsat and the TNI AU Conduct Satellite Communication Workshop to Enhance Military Capabilities

Bogor - In an effort to improve Indonesia's military communication capabilities, PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia (Telkomsat), in collaboration with the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU), organized a satellite communication workshop. The event took place in Bogor on March 1, 2024.

The workshop was attended by officials from both sides, including the officials from both sides, including the Askomlek Kasau - Marsekal Muda TNI I Made Susila Adnyana, S.I.P., S.H., Waaskomlek Kasau - Marsekal Pertama TNI Ir. Teguh Darmawan, M.T. , and other TNI AU officials. From Telkomsat, Andri Yunianto - Director of Commercial, Hendra Gunawan, EVP of Solution & Marketing Strategy, Hari Usmayadi - EVP of Government Service, Muhamad Zakaria - GM Performance, Support & Administration, Widy Sulistianto - PJ GM for Military, Police, & Agency Services, Adhe Ilham Hawari - the Account Manager for TNI AU, and Tommy Ardiyanto - the Account Manager for the Ministry of Defense were present.

The event opened with a warm welcome from the Askomlek Kasau. The workshop featured Widy Sulistianto, the PJ GM for Military, Police, & Agency Services at Telkomsat, as the main speaker. In his presentation, Widy Sulistianto emphasized the importance of utilizing satellites for military communication, given the rapid advancement of technology, including the use of satellite technology for more secure communications and the development of next-generation satellite systems.

Military satellites play a crucial role in global defense and security, providing essential capabilities for communication, surveillance, navigation, and intelligence gathering. He also highlighted the advantages of the Merah Putih-2 High Throughput Satellite (HTS), which offers high bandwidth capacity, wide coverage, improved performance in challenging environments, cost efficiency, and high security and reliability. He exemplified the use of satellites by the three largest superpowers, where satellites play a crucial role in technological advancement and global infrastructure development, as well as being a main pillar of cyber defense. Therefore, he underscored that the recommendation to use the Merah Putih-2 HTS for the TNI AU is a strategic step that benefits the TNI AU as it becomes a main pillar of the military communication system that aligns with current technological developments.

This workshop aims not only to enhance military communication and operational capabilities but also to support Indonesia's long-term goal of strengthening national defense and security. With the continuous advancement of satellite technology, further improvements in the capability and operational effectiveness of satellite-based services are expected in the future.
