With Satellite Services, Telkomsat Supports Pertamina's SPBU Digitalization Program

  • March 15, 2021
PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia (Telkomsat) and its parent company PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk support PT Pertamina (Persero) in implementing and realizing gas station digitization programs throughout Indonesia.

This digitalization program is Pertamina's effort in improving operations and services to the community by obtaining ease in making transactions and knowing the availability of fuel needed. Through this digitalization, Pertamina can also monitor the condition of fuel stock and sales, payment transactions at gas stations and the management of subsidized fuel distribution at each gas station in real time.

In addition, all of the digitization data can be accessed directly by the authorities, such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of BUMN, the Ministry of Finance, and BPH Migas so that they can support each other in supervising the distribution of fuel, including the subsidized ones, namely Bio Solar (B30) and Premium.

Several programs from the digitization of gas stations include the development of an auto replenishment system for fuel stock to gas stations and a pre-purchase system by recording the vehicle's police number. Meanwhile, from the consumer side, digitization through the MyPertamina application offers cashless payment program facilities using digital payments, as well as loyalty program-based customer profiling.

In this program, Telkom is responsible for providing telecommunication infrastructure both through fixed and mobile networks. Meanwhile, Telkomsat through one of its products Mangoesky serves as a channel of communication via satellite for gas stations, especially those in the 3T area.

In February 2021, Mangoesky's satellite-based telecommunication services were connected to 136 gas stations spread throughout Indonesia. Mangoesky service has an internet network that allows it to be used in remote areas, from Sabang to Merauke.

According to Telkom's Director of Enterprise and Business Service, Edi Witjara, "Telkom fully supports Pertamina to make every effort to complete the process of digitizing gas stations amid the limitations of the Covid-19 pandemic situation. This is in line with efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19, where cashless transactions reduce physical contact while still providing satisfactory service to customers."

This was also expressed by the President Director of Telkomsat Endi Fitri Herlianto, “Telkomsat's support in this program is one of the company's efforts to suppress the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia by building smart and sustainable digital infrastructure and platforms, and the benefits of all Indonesians can be felt."

With this contribution, Telkomsat was awarded the award as one of the best contributors in the completion of the SPBU digitization project at Telkom Regional-1 totaling 1,046 BAST.

Through the SPBU digitization program, Telkomsat will continue to strengthen its position as a satellite service provider by supporting the development of digital connectivity to strengthen the digital economy in Indonesia.
