Through the Marine Digital Summit, Telkomsat Demonstrates Its Commitment to the Digitalization of Indonesia’s Maritime Sector

6 Mei 2025

Jakarta – Telkomsat took part in supporting the success of the Marine Digital Summit 2025, organized by the Alumni Association of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (IKA ITS) on April 24, 2025, in Jakarta. The forum served as a cross-sector strategic discussion platform to promote the utilization of digital technology, particularly in the maritime sector, featuring speakers from both industry and academia.

Telkomsat’s Director of Business Development, Anggoro Kurnianto Widiawan, who represented the company in a panel discussion session, presented on the topic “Innovative ICT Solutions for the Maritime Industry.” In his presentation, he emphasized that one of the communication systems capable of covering global waters and serving as the backbone of the maritime industry is satellite-based services. “Satellite is the most reliable communication solution to reach vast and remote maritime areas in Indonesia, making it a key foundation for building safe, efficient, and sustainable maritime connectivity,” he stated.

As part of its commitment to supporting digital transformation in the maritime sector, Telkomsat continues to develop connectivity solutions that address Indonesia’s geographical challenges as an archipelagic nation. Satellite technology not only enables reliable communication at sea but also serves as an enabler for various digital services that enhance operational efficiency, navigation safety, and integrated fleet management.

During the forum, Anggoro also introduced Telkomsat’s flagship product, Mangoes Maritime. This service is a broadband internet solution based on High Throughput Satellite (HTS) technology, utilizing the Merah Putih 2 Satellite. The satellite is specifically designed to cover all regions of Indonesia both land and sea with high capacity and a combination of C- and Ku-band frequencies, ensuring stable connectivity for vessels operating offshore.

With its mobility features and wide coverage, Mangoes Maritime provides internet speeds of up to 20 Mbps to support maritime business needs. The service is also equipped with real-time vessel tracking and monitoring of fuel usage and engine performance through Telkomsat’s digital platforms, such as the IoT-based PINISI service.

In addition, Anggoro highlighted the future of maritime technology, which will increasingly rely on satellite connectivity and artificial intelligence (AI). With satellite communication as the backbone, decision-making can be carried out faster, more accurately, and based on real-time data transmitted from vessels to onshore control centers.

Through its participation in the Marine Digital Summit 2025, Telkomsat reinforces its strategic position as a satellite-based connectivity provider that not only supports operational efficiency but also serves as a key foundation for national defense and the economic growth of Indonesia’s maritime sector.
